Supporting our value of "a proactive approach to health", we look forward to being a major sponsor and active participant of the annual Flip Flop Soiree. In 2008, this event helped to raise over $180,000 for InspireHealth, a local Vancouver integrated cancer care facility promoting a holistic proactive approach to cancer treatment.

Every summer, our head office team hosts 4 BBQs for the BC Cancer Agency to support the "Weekend to End Breast Cancer." In 2008, these 4 BBQs raised an outstanding $10 000 for breast cancer research. Again, as advocates of a proactive approach to health, we are proud to be a strong supporter of the BC Cancer Agency.

As well, for the past 10 years we have been hosting 50 dinners a year for terminally ill children and their families for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. We also participate in their annual Sweet Dreams Dessert Day event, whereby Cactus donates proceeds from every dessert sold on the anniversary in which the first ever wish was granted. Our annual overall contribution to the Make-A-Wish Foundation is $10,000.

Through a partnership with Templeton High School in east Vancouver, we are able to connect with young members in a community that may not have otherwise had the opportunity to pursue a career in the culinary arts. Through the career preparation program at this local high school, students taking part in the program gain valuable work experience within our restaurants to meet certain graduation requirements. Since inception of this partnership, 25 students have been involved in this program and another 30 students are scheduled to take part in 2008.
