Cactus Club Cafe is pleased to announce that six of their employees were chosen as finalists out of hundreds of nominees to participate in this year's Sterling Service Awards. Two finalists took home the Sterling Service Awards of Excellence this past week at a gala ceremony during the BC Hospitality Industry Conference and Exposition.
These prestigious awards honour the cream of the crop of the hospitality industry and recognize them for their outstanding achievements of consistently going above and beyond the call of duty.
"At Cactus Club, our people are our top priority, so we are very proud when they are publicly recognized for their hard work and dedication to creating exceptional experiences for our guests," says Anna Grolle, Director of Human Resources. "Being publicly recognized is a great honor, and an additional testament to the hard work our people do each day."
From the 400 nominees who participated in the program, two employees from Cactus Club were honoured. Regional Bar Operations and Bentall Bartender extraordinaire, Nigel Alexander won the Sterling Service Award of Excellence for the Vancouver Coast region. Victoria's Server and humanitarian, Dane Low was presented with the Sterling Service Award of Excellence for the Islands region. Finalists for the Culinary Team Leader category were Ryan Vidal from Victoria and Andy Brown from the company's test restaurant location in Vancouver. Ashleigh Vogstad was recognized as the finalist for Food and Beverage Server category and Lori McEwin for Best Bartender for the Vancouver Coast region.
The award event is held in conjunction with the BC Hospitality Industry Conference and Exposition and is hosted by the British Columbia & Yukon Hotels' Association (BCYHA), the Alliance of Beverage Licensees (ABLE) and the BC Restaurant and Foodservices Association (BCRFA).
