Cactus Club the third Best Company to Work for in BC

Cactus Club Cafe named one of the Top 10 Best Companies to Work for in B.C. by BC Business Magazine

Cactus Restaurants Ltd. is honoured to have been recognized as the third Best Company to Work for in B.C. by BC Business Magazine and the Mindfield Group. Cactus Restaurants Ltd. has ranked in the Top 25 Best Companies to Work for with Over 100 Employees for the past six consecutive years. Last year, the company ranked second as part of the Top 10 Best Companies to Work for in BC.

"We are very pleased to have been named the third Best Company to Work for in B.C., by BC Business Magazine and the Mindfield Group," says President and Founder, Richard Jaffray. "This has been a tremendous year for us and this recognition is a true testament to how hard we've worked to create a reputation as an Employer of Choice- especially in a year like we have all just experienced in BC’s economy. This achievement is a direct result of tremendous teamwork."

Before Cactus Club was presented the award, the following testimonial was chosen and read from one of the employee's surveys describing the organizational culture: “No matter where you’re from, they make you feel like a part of the team, and the leaders are always supportive and helpful”
Cactus employees told BC Business Magazine that having Canada’s only Iron Chef in the kitchen is a bonus in itself. Rob Feenie joined the organization as Food Concept Architect in 2008. Other reasons workers rate working at the Cactus Club Cafe restaurants so highly: the company’s participation in Restaurant Watch, which aims to keep suspected gangsters out of members’ eateries; membership in the Green Table and Ocean Wise sustainability programs; and apprenticeship opportunities for kitchen employees.
There were also countless survey responses about the company’s “family feel” and the “can-do” attitude embodied in its “House of yes” core value. “My little cousin wanted Kraft Dinner, so the Sous Chef went to Save-on-Foods to buy Kraft Dinner,” recalls one pleased employee. And another: “You’re working with managers that really care. For instance, a manager ran all the way to Wal-Mart to get a customer sunscreen.”
The results for the prestigious awards are based on employee survey data measuring employee satisfaction in key areas of talent management systems, including talent systems, employee engagement, leadership dynamics, and organization culture. The data is then compiled by BC Business Magazine and Mindfield Group.
