I’ve never been to Paris before, but I know that I already love, love, love the beautiful city of lights and love!
Who wouldn’t want to spend their day strolling down the Champs Elysees – peeking through the cute window shops, watching the beautiful people go by and envying the French women and their effortless “thrown together” style. I would ride my bike to the market, pick up a fresh baguette, some cheeses a bottle of wine and neatly tuck them into my bike basket. I would spend my afternoons chatting with friends at a little outdoor patisserie, sipping on a café crème and slicing into a deliciously handmade petite galette aux pomme – an apple galette.
I’d like to think of an apple galette as somewhere between a pie and a tart. A classic and elegant, yet rustic, free form dessert showcasing three simple ingredients – light layers of puff pastry, buttery almond frangipane and tart apples.
After practically a year of menu development and over a dozen different prototypes (the constant eating was difficult I’ll let you know), we are so pleased to be featuring the apple galette company wide! Our galette is handmade and baked fresh every single day. Delicate and light layers of flaky and buttery puff pastry is spread with flavourful and moist almond frangipane and topped with cinnamon-sugar spiced apples.
Not only are they baked until golden brown and caramelized, but we also brush them with a coat of caramel sauce to enhance the overall carmelization and flavour. Topped with a scoop of Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream, this dessert should be savoured bite by bite.
La vie est belle!
