Mike and Sarah Salome’s love first bloomed under the recruiting tent for the Byrne Road opening (recently recognized for its awesome bathrooms). Two and a half years later they made it official and got married. When Sarah, manager at Byrne Road, and Mike, Chef at Robson sat down to plan their wedding day they knew they wanted it to be something different and memorable.
They had two major guidelines: The food and service would be top notch, and no one would shut their party down ‘til they said it was over!
They decided to exchange their vows on August 7th 2010 overlooking the ocean in Cobble Hill, Vancouver Island, and they would have an outdoor reception in the orchard of a family friend’s heritage property near by.Mike and Sarah are passionate about food and service and their expectation of this for their wedding would be nothing short of perfection. This dictated the decision that there would be no one better to cook and serve on their special day than those people the couple had worked with over their Cactus careers. Mike and Sarah created the menu and the vision of the day at home together and the couple passed off that vision to an exceptional group of people Including Chef DeMercado of Park Royal, two Cactus Sous Chefs, two Cactus Floor Leaders, and a supporting team with over 50 combined years of Cactus experience.
The execution of the day was incredible. The 150-some guests were blown away with the calibre of food and service on this rainy day in this little island town. The couple was elated with their evening filled with love, delicious food, great music, and maybe… a little wine. With a late night camp fire and a second midnight buffet, Sarah was still on the dance floor and Mike in the cigar tent, when at 5am the music had to stop. Daylight brought an end to this perfect day that was brought to life by an exceptional Cactus team who culturally couldn’t have had it any other way!
Congratulations, Sarah & Mike!
