Two Winter Cocktails
You Really Need to Try
This winter, acclaimed Bar Operations Manager, Kris Jensen, introduces two unique new cocktails with a seasonal flare.
Cocktails and winter don’t always go hand in hand, but I don’t think there’s a better time to cozy up to the bar and soak in some seasonal flavours. This winter, Cactus is launching the Whiskey Ginger Smash and the Late Harvest Daiquiri so you can imbibe in festive ways without the heavy flavours that bog down your palate.
Whiskey Ginger Smash
Bakery spices have always been synonymous with the winter season, but they can get played out fast when they’re overpowering. The Whiskey Ginger Smash offers a bright, sessionable option to kick down your winter blues. The blend of whiskey, lemon, ginger and rosemary combine for a perfectly balanced cocktail that will conjure up memories of both fireside hot toddies with Grandma and late nights downing rye and gingers with your bros at the bar.
It’s hard to stop at one, and that’s ok, because the Whiskey Ginger Smash may just help you boost your immune system, as we’re told some of these ingredients are apt to do ;). And if you like the idea of drinking and boosting your health, our other delicious ginger-based cocktails include the Moscow Mule and the Perfect Storm, which are outstanding options to begin any meal or evening on the town.
Late Harvest Daiquiri
Another exciting new Cactus cocktail is the Late Harvest Daiquiri. This cocktail is very sexy; you definitely notice it coming through the room. This smooth frozen beverage is a play on the daiquiri with a good dose of Canadiana. Made with a base of rum and lime, the addition of blackberry, Saskatoon berry and blackcurrant coulis puts this cocktail over the top. The dark berry notes are fresh and lively, while also deep and rich in flavour. Elderflower brings a subtle floral finish to this divine drink.
So as winter rolls in, no need to brace yourself for the cold, blahs and holiday stress. The Whiskey Ginger Smash and the Late Harvest Daiquiri are here to enliven the festivities.
Try both cocktails, available during Happy Hour at most locations.
